Leafbare's blanket had finally settled upon the terrain when the young apprentice awoke. Stepping out of the den, he peered out to see fluffy white blanket. Running out of the apprentice den, the flame colored apprentice began to play with the snow. Before long he became bored and moved onto the next bit of business.
Walking into the elders den he peered around and thought, 'I wonder why I haven't met any older cats yet...' Padding out he headed in the direction of the warriors' den. Peering in he called softly, "Tangletail, are you in there? Tangletail?" Sharp lanterns waited for movement in the den but none came. Sighing, Blazepaw ran off back to the apprentice den.
Sitting down on his haunches, he looked up at the sky and thought, 'I wonder if more of the white, fluffy stuff will fall...' Suddenly a small snowflake fell on his nose. Glancing around, he noticed that it was more of the white blanket accept it was falling from the sky. Out loud he exclaimed, "Wow, that white, fluffy stuff is falling again!"

A yawn was what made Tangletail drop the magpie she'd caught. Giving her ginger and black splotched head a shake, the green-eyed, crooked-tailed she-cat looked around. She was near camp and it was just past morning. She'd gotten up especially early, before the sun even began to think about rising. Why? She'd just been unable to sleep. Since her little run in with Frostclaw, she had trouble looking her clanmates in the eye. It felt even more than usual like she was lying to them, pretending their jokes about her lack of coordination was okay. Really nothing should have changed. After all, Frostclaw was just another cat. But, she had been honest with him and confessed that sometimes it just wasn't funny anymore. Maybe that was what made all the difference. She knew what it felt like to be honest now. Part of her relished in the fact that someone knew while the other part kept shooting glances at the half-blind tom, waiting for him to spill his guts to somebody. Then she'd be the laughing stock of the clan all over again and this time not just because she randomly fell over or tripped on stuff that wasn't there. It wouldn't be because she ran into a tree or because she couldn't walk in a straight line. This time it would be just because she was too dumb or weak-hearted to tell her clanmates to back off with the jokes.
GIVING her head a firm shake, Tangletail picked up her prey and continued toward camp. If anyone watched her from behind they would see that instead of walking straight, her steps wavered in an S-like pattern thanks to the kink in her tail from a twoleg slamming the door on it when she was an apprentice. The whole clan except maybe the younger cats remembered her accident. Snowfall of all cats remembered it well. He'd help tend to her after her accident and had probably heard her stumbling around trying to find something similar to balance for weeks afterwards. The whole kink in her tail threw off her balance. It made climbing impossible and caused her steps to take a characteristic wavering quality. Walking on ice and snow were torture for the poorly coordinated young warrior and made her the laughing stock of the clan. The problem was, she never told them it hurt. That was why she'd been such a curiosity to Frostclaw in the first place. She laughed it off, smiled and laughed at herself every time. It was so confusing.
PASSING into the camp, Tangletail stopped and looked around at an excited exclaimation. Spotting her ginger-furred apprentice Blazepaw looking at the sky with wonder in his eyes, Tangletail turned her own green eyes upward. Sure enough, more fluffy white flakes were starting to fall. Waving her tail from side to side, she looked back at her sometimes over-confident apprtentice. Purring in amusement, the young warrior dropped her prey on the fresh kill pile and padded toward him. Her green eyes were warm and calm, light like green suns. Everyone said that even when Tangletail wasn't purring they could tell she was happy because her eyes seemed to smile when she was happy.
"IT'S beautiful isn't it?" Tangletail meowed when she was close enough to the young tom.

Green eyes gleamed from the outside of the warriors' den. Thrasherflight had retreated to the den after hunting earlier that day. Now, after a brief midday nap, the torbie calico was ready to go out into the world again. Perhaps another hunt, or a quick frolic or training session with an apprentice would walk him up better. He stretched and yawned, quickly spotting Blazepaw. He was close enough to hear him talk, and at his words the SunClan deputy purred in amusement. Not all apprentices were as amusing as him; he was glad he hadn't set his attention on a bad one.
As he neared the apprentice, he noticed that Tangletail was there as well. A quick double take, and then the realization that the calico she-cat was Blazepaw's mentor. Another moment, and embarrassment seeping through his brown-and-cream tabby pelt, though he knew that nobody would know of it. Thrasherflight enjoyed being on top of things; nothing shamed him more than not knowing things that went on in the Clan, especially about the mentors and apprentices.
Unlike the two others, he didn't find the snow any different than freezing water. The tomcat gave his pelt a shake, and murmured a general greeting. Some snow was melting in his pelt, and he sighed in annoyance. Even if his pelt was thicker than most, and pretty much waterproof, he still hated water, and didn't see how in StarClan RiverClan managed to survive by it every day and not go crazy. Though, when he thought about it, RiverClan was admittedly pretty crazy anyways. Maybe the water did have some distorted effect on cats. And maybe not. In his unusually light mood, it didn't really matter at the moment.
