fernbreeze
small pale silver tabby she-cat with green eyes
* * *
Age: twenty eight moons
Gender: she-cat
Rank: warrior
Clan: reedclan
* * *
Appearance: the first thing one may come to notice about the she-cat is the increasingly evident fact that her fur is always, and i do mean always, well-groomed. there seems to never be a tuft of hair that sticks out unattractively. fernbreeze is the kind of cat who prefers to keep herself clean, for the most part, and she believes strongly in grooming herself more than three times a day. this can either be a good or bad thing, depending on which way you look at it.
the second thing one may notice is her eyes, the color of a leaf in greenleaf. it's hard to say what her emotions are based on those two leaf-green orbs, but it's possible if you concentrate and really focus in on them. some say that eyes are the door to the soul, which isn't necessarily false in this case, but it's not correct either. there always seems to be some wall in fernbreeze's gaze, prohibiting others from seeing into her "soul", from catching a glimpse of her inner conflict. there are days when that wall becomes cracked and maybe even shattered and on those days there's nothing hiding those emotions.
if one were to say fernbreeze had the build of a fighter, they'd be dead wrong. in fact she had never been the best fighter, not even during those dutiful, hard-working six moons she spent with her mentor, battle training in the smoldering heat to toughen her up did no good. of course she learned how to fight but that doesn't necessarily mean she's skilled in that fort. she's more of a hunter than anything else, which seems to suit her just fine. she has a lean, lithe body with small, compact muscles.
to be perfectly honest fernbreeze doesn't even look like a fighter. oh no, with that too-soft of a face and that carefully delicate smile, she's too far from the typical fighter build - you know, the broad muscles and the harsh, drawn out face.
Personality: when asked to give one word describing the reedclan she-cat, most would lift their shoulders in a dainty shrug and say the first word that comes to mind: complicated. now it's not like there's anything wrong with that, because lets be completely honest here and just admit that a nice, simplistic cat is hard to come by. finding a cat who's not stubborn is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. fernbreeze here just so happened to hop in on the bandwagon of the stubborn, irrevocably difficult cats which she surprisingly holds no disdain for. she's as stubborn as a cranky elder and this fact is not left unknown throughout reedclan. even at her young age fernbreeze sometimes acts not quite her age and can often be found muttering darkly under her breath about the "pesky young apprentices" or the "stupid old elders". she's incredibly stubborn and once she has her mind locked onto something, it'd prove to be worthless if you tried to set her onto a new path.
another word that would perhaps pop into mind is clever. as stated before, she's no fighter and she's a little smaller than the average cat, making her even more vulnerable if she were to be in a fight with another cat. however she has brains and great heap of intelligence, intelligence that she's never reluctant to use, especially in battle. she's logical, which is a nice advantage. unlike other cats who simply launch themselves into battle without so much of a second though, this reedclan she-cat plans it all out in her head, every fiber, every scrupulous detail; everything, absolutely everything. she cannot be easily outwitted/outsmarted which is also beneficial in case any of the "young pesky apprentices" just so happened to try to trick her.
even at the young age of twenty eight moons, fernbreeze still finds herself struggling on letting her emotions shine through. she had always been guarded of sorts, with a barrier surrounding her heart and she often has inner emotional battles with herself. to be honest she doesn't even know how she became so reserved and locked-away. perhaps it was just something that..well, happened, to say the least. the she-cat always desperately tries to act more care-free around others but that task has proved to be frustratingly difficult for her. there are times when a sliver of her more easy-going side slips out but then she would realize it and it would be reeled back in hastily. there's no logical explanation for this and all she can really do is guess as to the reasons why she's become like this. maybe it was something that was inherited, or maybe it was just something that occurred randomly. whatever the case, the she-cat has trouble with showing her true self to others - a fact that she does not take pride in at all. perhaps one day she'll suddenly find herself opening up, but that day is far from now, or so she thinks.
there is no doubt in the world that fernbreeze isn't an admirable warrior. she's always willing to carry out whatever her leader or deputy orders her to without so much of a complaint. she's compassionate towards her clanmates, despite the fact that she often discovers herself muttering obscene insults about some of them. but through it all, her clan is truly her everything and she'd die for each and every single one of them a million times over if it were necessary. she'd fight any battle for them and stand up for the youngest kid and/or the oldest elder. all these traits that she has come to acquire throughout the seasons has developed her into a well-known, respected and commendable warrior of reedclan.

fernbreeze and her siblings had a relatively normal upbringing. there were no complications, nothing at all gone wrong. she was the runt of the litter which, in turn, made her mother keep a constant eye on her. but lets rewind it a bit, to the part where clovertail and jaystorm became mates.
the two of them hadn't necessarily grown up together. there was no cloverkit and jaykit, no cloverpaw and jaypaw. in fact, jaystorm had been her brothers mentor. jaystorm was a good twenty moons or so older than clovertail but that didn't seem to stop the two from falling in love, or what they thought was love. jaystorm was a gratifying warrior of riverclan and was highly respected. he was logical, wise and always respectful of his clanmates. in the beginning clovertail had thought there wasn't a single thing wrong about the tom but as she got to know him better she discovered that he was devastatingly insecure. he was socially awkward, especially when it came to she-cats and he always tried too hard. those were all traits that made her fall for him even more.
it was an odd pair, not just considering the age but their very different personalities. while jaystorm was calm and collected, clovertail was a little more than immature and reckless. she never thought twice before she did or said anything and she often found herself entangled in numerous plights, plights that her faithful mate had to get her out of. but that didn't matter because the tom was in love, and he was blind to any of her imperfections. when clovertail became a warrior it was no surprise that she became a queen only five moons later, belly swollen with jaystorm's kits.
and this is where the story of fernbreeze begins.
like any other kit, she was eager to play and wrestle with her littermates. she was blind to the cruelty of the world and, at first, was extremely rambunctious. she would often scurry her way into trouble and then be scolded by her parents, mostly jaystorm as clovertail was always too busy chatting animatedly to her denmates to notice anything her kits did. the four siblings were as close as peas in a pod, especially young rowankit and fernkit. rowankit was like any other brother: protective of his sisters and always thought he was superior just because he was the only male in the litter. no matter how cheeky rowankit could be, fernbreeze adored everything about him, everything to his green eyes, to his dark ginger fur, to his familiar, lopsided grin.
their kithood was overall uneventful and it dragged by dully. wrestling could only keep the four kits entertained for so long, after all. when the time for the apprentice ceremony finally rolled around, clovertail made sure that all of them were as groomed as could be. the leader of riverclan had announced silverfoot as fernpaw's mentor, reedclaw as rowanpaw's mentor, oaktail as spottedpaw's mentor and runningfoot as sorrelpaw's mentor. silverfoot was a stern, pretty she-cat who had broad muscles and a seemingly harsh expression always plastered to her face. day after day she would push fernpaw harder and harder, always informing her of her flaws and what exactly she needed to do to correct them.
her time with silverfoot seemed short-lived when the time for her warrior ceremony came around. her mentor had taught her all that she could and as fernpaw was called up to the high rock alongside her siblings, all that she could do was feel a sense of pride that the apprentice had come this far. fernpaw was named fernbreeze, reasons unknown, and now she lives her life as an official warrior of reedclan, proud as ever.
