smokepaw
smoky grey tom with calm blue eyes
[/size][/blockquote]* * *
Age:
6 moons young
Gender:
Tom
Rank:
Apprentice
Clan:
Reedclan* * *
Appearance:
Grey. How freakin' original. Smokepaw, like quite a fair bit of forest cats, has grey fur. Short furred too, because that isn't common enough. At least this cute little cat is getting away from the crowd a bit here. No tabby streaks or dots penetrate his grey coat. Instead, he's just a solid smoky grey, hence the name given to him. His toes, not paws, are white, same with his chin, the tip of his tail, and the patch of fur below his neck. Since he is only 6 moons young, the fur is still soft and a bit kit-like, and doesn't protect very well against the cold. This Reedclan apprentice's fur has quite the tendency to stick up. The most common places for that are the top of his head, and up along his nose. Not because he doesn't groom, but just because that's the way the fur happens to part. Oh well. You can't win them all. At least as a young apprentice, it adds to his character, and makes him just a bit cuter and kit-like.
Since Smokepaw IS still a kit, he'll obviously grow into his frame a bit more. But meanwhile, he just looks ...unique. Big ears, big nose, big eyes, which isn't unlikely for his age. His eyes are a deep calm blue, usually wide with curiosity and wonder. Those blue orbs also betray any emotion this apprentice is feeling. He is quite a easy cat to read, that's for sure! White whiskers frame his face. His dark grey nose is only a few shades darker then the rest of his fur, not a contrasting pink like some other cats. Good thing too, with bright eyes and a bright nose, that might just start to look weird. His frame, for a cat of his short height, is a bit too big for him. He's a chubby little kit, but some could argue he's just big boned. Already for a new apprentice Smokepaw has broad shoulders, but it's definitely not from muscle, despite what he claims. He has short legs, which is probably why this apprentice looks short in general. At the bottom of his legs, he has big paws. Too big for him anyways. Smokepaw is constantly tripping over them, the main reason for being a klutz. A short tail doesn't help that balance either. His skinny tail only a bit shorter then the average length for his age. But with his heavy frame, it makes it look even shorter.
Personality:
Smokepaw, in general, is a happy cat. He likes being happy, and can make himself happy easily. His optimism can be annoying, but it's also charming. The cup is half empty? Well, to Smokepaw, that glass is as full as it can get! To him, life just rocks, and doesn't get why others complain at all. Missed a mouse? Well, there's plenty more to catch! Smokepaw has unique views on everything, nothing bad is truly bad, and what happens, happens. So, suck it up and move on, or else everything is going to turn out bad. Harsh thinking for such a happy cat! When a cat dies, he tells himself and everybody who will listen they are going to a better place, and you'll see them again one day. Well, unless they are going to the Place of No Stars. Then why would you even WANT to see them?
Along with his happiness and simple thinking, another thing cats may find annoying is his innocence. To him, the world is one big happy place. Why would any cat want to hurt another cat? Why would you want to fight, to have a chance at hurting another cat? Why would you want to see someone hurt, from what you did or said? None of this makes sense to the poor little apprentice. In his mind, all cats are equal, and cats from other clans are just as cool as cats from his own clan. He hates to see another cat hurt for any reason, which is a good quality for a medicine cat. Such a pity he doesn't want to be one. Some day, his dreams of a peaceful life will be shattered, a warrior can't live in a peaceful world for long.
Curiosity killed the cat! Despite being a curious little cat, he is still here. Once a question is asked, he won't forget it. This apprentice likes questions, and loves answers! Smokepaw usually can't shut up, he likes to talk. Once he runs out of things to say, which are pretty obvious and simple things anyways, he will just babble on about nothing. Or ask a question. Silence is not golden to him, he doesn't like it. Only about one of the few things he doesn't like! Smokepaw is a pretty fearless cat, but only because of his innocence. Oh look, a fox is coming? Why would it want to hurt me, I didn't do anything! Ignorance is key? One of the few things that can scare him really badly is the dark. It scares him not knowing what's around him, or what's going on. Doesn't matter if he can smell stuff, or hear it, he needs to see it. Seeing is believing after all!
Not much can bring this apprentice's mood down, usually he can shake anything off with ease. But his sister rubbed off on him a little bit! If you anger him enough, he will snap, and say harsh things. Harsh things you would never expect to come out of a happy little apprentice's mouth. He gets pretty nasty too, snarling and flaming with anger, though he would likely still not be provoked to attack. This may also happen if he doesn't get his way, but usually he just goes about that playfully. Smokepaw is extremely stubborn, and refuses to listen. Maybe to his future mentor if he looks up to them, but anybody else, good luck! Smokepaw will do things HIS way, and that's not likely to change anytime soon.
History:
Mistybrook and Cloudfrost. Just two normal Reedclan cats. They didn't really know each other before, having different friends and such, but when the leader picked Cloudfrost for Mistybrook's mate, it was meant to be. They fell in love, and had three kits. Smokekit, Mallowkit and Rowankit. Smokekit was the only tom, and the smallest kit of the three too. He was named Smokekit for his smoky grey fur, the exact shade of his mother's. He has both of his parents appearance in him, while he doesn't look a bit like either of his sisters. A few days after being born, Mallowkit passed away in her sleep. The medicine cat said that she was too weak to survive, and there was no chance of survival anyways. The two parents mourned, but still raised their other kits well. Smokekit was too young to remember his sister, so the loss didn't affect him much.
Growing up was pretty much normal. His small size was frustrating at times, especially wrestling with his sister. Rowankit was bigger and more agile then Smokekit, and usually won every fight. Smokekit didn't have any bad feelings though, he is still confident he can beat her one day, even if he has to wait until they are warriors. Smokekit gets along very well with his sister. Despite different personalities, they are quite close. At 6 moons old, Smokekit received the name of Smokepaw alongside his sister, and is excited to receive a mentor.* * *
Roleplay Sample:
Rowanstar narrowed his eyes at the small apprentice. She seemed nervous and shaky, that would have to be knocked out of her. RiverClan had no need for apprentices that got scared or nervous, they needed tough, confident cats. But he wouldn't bring that up now, he'd save that training for later. First, the tom wanted to she how Blazepaw hunted, and correct the bunch of mistakes she was bound to have, even doing a task so simple.
Grimacing at the crouch the apprentice did, he watched as she came up to her target of prey, a mouse. She pounced, and managed to hit the target, but decided to just claw at it. What in StarClan's name? Blink of an eye later, the mouse escaped, bolting blindly towards the large tabby.
"Wrong." Rowanstar mewed stiffly, quickly swiping the nearby mouse with a claw across the throat. "First, kill your prey right away. It doesn't deserve to suffer, and we can't risk it getting away, especially if prey becomes scarce." His amber gaze darted to the motionless mouse, then back to the apprentice. "What else can you name that you did wrong?" He demanded, wanting to know if Blazepaw even knew what she did wrong.
